All seven schools in the Temple City Unified School District recently submitted Support Personnel Accountability Report Cards (SPARC's) to the Los Angeles County Office of Education for award consideration.
- Corning Union High School Counselor Honored
CORNING - Corning Union High School's Sally Tollison said she sometimes feels like the school's counselors are the moms that are never in the family photo because they're always the ones taking the picture. But this year, as Mother's Day approaches, the counselors at Corning High are taking a break from their busy schedules to be recognized for their efforts. The school's Student Support Personnel Team, namely the counselors, recently received the California Department of Education Award for Excellence and nationally recognized Diamond Award for implementing the National Standards for School Counseling Program. The Diamond Award is the most prestigious award of its kind and is a significant accomplishment, said Sally Tollison, director of Student Support Services. The Support Personnel Accountability Report Card (SPARC) is a tool used by California school counselors to let others see the positive results coming out of their comprehensive school counseling programs. Its a great way for school counselors to show stakeholders how students are different as a result of what school counselors do. I recently had the chance to represent ASCA at a SPARC meeting in Lake Arrowhead, Calif.

WEST WHITTIER - A good report card is reason to celebrate - and that's why the Los Angeles County Office of Education is granting an "Academy Award" this week to Pioneer High School's guidance and counseling department.
- Oceanside High Counselors Win State Award
Some of Oceanside High School's staff members received an
"academy award" and an Oscar-like trophy, earlier this month, for their work
supporting the school's students.
